2010 Challenges January Sign Up!

So the theme for January is

YOU!

You have to make something for YOU!

This really can be a challenge for so many people, especially us who have so many others in our lives who appreciate our sewing!

I sew for 4 kittle kids, neices, nephews, birthdays, Christmas, sister, swaps, secret swaps... blah blah, you get the drift, but no mention of me in there is there!

So this month I will be sewing for ME!

I have the versatile wrap skirt and this fabric:

Its been sitting in my stash for about 9 months now, and really needs to turn into a skirt!

As this topic is so broad (bags, tops, shkirts, pants, slippers) I wont be posting any links.  But if you need help there are a few web sites that you can try out:

Crafty Mamas  Sewn  Burda style  and I am sure that there are many many more!

so sign up int he widget below. Your name/ username will be displayed and then we can surf around the different blogs and see what others are creating.

Good luck, I look forward to seeing what YOU! decides to make for YOU!!

ETA doing foget to blog throught the month if you can, and then blog your finished product in the last week of Janurary.  I will be putting up another widget then for you to add your name to.

What a great idea! Something for me! It might just take a couple days before I decide what I need... I always know everybody's needs but can't think of what I need just now...
Thanks for challenging me!

Hugs,
Sandra

Hmmm, I like that skirt you are making but by the time it reaches me in the mail Jan will be over so i will have a look through my Ottos and Patterns and see what I will do. In fact I would like to think I could do 2 things for me this month ... so lets see!

I am sooo doing this, I've just started my blog to track all the wonderful things I wanna make this year. I already have the fabric and pattern ready and waiting to go, just ordered a rotary cutter & mat so I've been waiting for that to arrive to get started. Watch this space.... http://hereswhatididtoday.blogspot.com/

This is going to be fun!!! I've only just started sewing (I mean only just started a few days ago) so this could be very interesting. :-) Ily

This is a great idea! Now onto thinking about something for me, for some reason that is a challenge!

Do I need to have a blog or is a flickr account okay? It sounds like such a fun idea.

I'll be making The X Bag by Four Corners Designs. I haven't picked fabric yet but I'm thinking denim (to be shopped for) + batik (stash) :) I'll probably do a trial run first with stash (ugly-ish) fabric to see how well the pattern goes together for me before I use the GOOD fabrics :D

I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone else makes!

assumming my machine is back from the doctor in time, otherwise I may rethink what I'm vaguely thinking about making.

I love a good challenge! at the moment I have a sewing machine, but no fabric or patterns! had better get myself organised...

I'm hoping to make a complete outfit...but I'll start with the top first and hope to get the pants done later. Just making something simple, a top from butterick pattern B5203.

I kept thinking I had nothing to sew for myself, but inspiration hit me last night so I'm in!

Something for me??? Is that really allowed? lol! I have been wanting to make a wrapskirt forever, and have several patterns, and a new purse, and some pillows for the couch (wait, is that technically for the house?), and a quilt, and...I'm sure I'll come up with something!

I really want to do this every month...I hope I can. It really sounds fun!

Count me in! I'm a self-taught rookie sewist, so I need a push like this to expand my horizons! I've been hoping to make a skirt for myself, so here's the chance!
