I also name my craft "My Favourite" as that is usually the response I get from my kids when I show them.Carolynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11961630320119673470noreply@blogger.comBlogger299125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2966786143007513866.post-26137329098349578772013-09-15T22:55:00.000+10:002013-09-15T22:55:42.391+10:00my golly gosh :pIts been rather a long time since I have last posted. <br />
<br />
I would actually put it in the "embarrassing" category!<br />
<br />
Many reasons for taking so long, thankfully nothing bad.<br />
<br />
In simple terms- this is a crafty blog, and my crafty mojo has been overtaken.<br />
<br />
It still has the potential to roar, but they tend to turn into UFO's<br />
<br />
My husband has a joke with me- that this is my "latest" thing.<br />
<br />
I started to jog around the lake, I did Tough Mudder.<br />
<br />
I then reached my 'goal' weight! Looked fab!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-snhULPZvmBgi-LyipLEcYIIQjRiTYsQSYoThTfEtBgx09fwztc2zUaVH16v3GLGf_68AK5-NJrnhw5goyYRBJIlZbfdYF2YinVKiA1iv9bzXG82D5v6jIV0t0215o2aWUBlzO6NGP4Zc/s1600/IMG_5056.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-snhULPZvmBgi-LyipLEcYIIQjRiTYsQSYoThTfEtBgx09fwztc2zUaVH16v3GLGf_68AK5-NJrnhw5goyYRBJIlZbfdYF2YinVKiA1iv9bzXG82D5v6jIV0t0215o2aWUBlzO6NGP4Zc/s320/IMG_5056.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I ran the mothers day classic- ran 8k without stopping- some may argue that it was more of a fast walk but I am super proud of the fact that I didn't stop!<br />
<br />
<br />
The next confession may have to be that if I continue to update this blog that it may become somewhat fitness and healthy eating focused rather than my craft.<br />
<br />
I do struggle with this idea as I started this blog to show off my craft, not to boast about my fitness (although i do have a long way to go!)<br />
<br />
I do have many people ask about it...<br />
<br />
maybe I should change the focus...<br />

I dont want to call it a crisis as I dont feel that I am in crisis, rather my life is changing.<br />
<br />
As I said in previous posts I am trying to get my weight under control I have joined karate.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/7299567768/" title="IMG_0029 by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_0029" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8142/7299567768_d25ee20b7e_z.jpg" width="548" /></a> </div>
Have been trying to get fit. walk/ jogging around a local park that is just beautiful!<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/7299595190/" title="IMG_4247 by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_4247" height="400" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7240/7299595190_04a7f949fd_o.jpg" width="400" /></a>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Have also considered getting myself inked... dont hold me to that till its done though. And dont tell my parents! I did get my tongue pierced at Easter time- have wanted this for 10+ years.. finally did it and talked fynnyy for about a week! Not to mention now I have a stock of soup in the freezer!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/7299660370/" title="love tattoo by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="love tattoo" height="373" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7236/7299660370_1d99af86e4.jpg" width="500" /></a>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><a href="http://tattoosmania.info/love%20tattoo.jpg">source-</a> as this is not my feet!</span><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span><br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
Knitting and not sewing as much</div>
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/6998018028/" title="IMG_9923 by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_9923" height="500" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7176/6998018028_8ed400a15a.jpg" width="333" /></a>
<br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;">BabyDoll dress by Rachel Evans <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/acmtel/paige-babydoll">Rav here</a> </span><br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
</div>
But where did this come from? Am I having a mid-life crisis. I thought these things only happened once I reached 40- which is quite a few years off yet.<br />
<br />
My kids are now either in school or kinder, freeing up a few days. And this year I am not dropping kids off at 3 different locations. I think this is why Id rather call it a change. I havnt bought a 2 door car and a toy boy- am still feeling rather secure in the relationship I have with my husband- although a 2 door car for the 2 of us might be nice.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/7299668320/" title="IMG_9983 by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_9983" height="333" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7080/7299668320_0081ca975d.jpg" width="500" /></a>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">1 attempt of about 10 to have the 4 of them stay still at the same time! </span></div>
<br />
I think its just starting to hit home that I am getting older. I am not old- but am feeling the pressure to grow up- yet also resisting this pressure.<br />
<br />
I am a responsible adult, but who says that I have to grow up?<br />
<br />

This also coincides with me picking up the knitting needles and attempting more than 1 project at a time! <br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: x-small;">mmm Little Plum yarn! <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/acmtel/my-honey">what will this become?</a> </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Along with this crafting is my quest to become the perfect wife and mother with the perfect crafty life balance- with a little bit of work thrown in there so I can afford the perfect school and support my habit.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So I took up Karate...<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/6839832854/" title="IMG_9768editcrop by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_9768editcrop" height="396" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7063/6839832854_a24b1a3e19.jpg" width="400" /></a>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">learning to put on the belt - there is actually a method! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Still trying to lose some weight too- I think since I have turned 30 (a few years ago) my metabolism has changed and this doesn't happen quite as easily as it used to. But my health has changed thankfully!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
karate has given me a chance to connect with 2 of my kids though- they are both further in grading then me- so tonight my 8yo is teaching me the Kata! Feeling very unco at the moment</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">

<br />
Can you believe it?!<br />
<br />
I am being such a lazy blogger- or worst still- been so busy I haven't had a chance to sit and tell you all what I have been up to.<br />
<br />
My husband went to PNG on a missions trip. Building a school for 2 weeks. So 2 weeks of building in the rain and heat, no air con. But the stories are fantastic! The working ethic of the men from PNG is to be envied! Really brought to light how they helped our <a href="http://www.ww2australia.gov.au/asfaras/angels.html">Aussie grandfathers who walked the Kokoda track.</a><br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/6798262449/" title="401026_10150709315769465_821729464_12337395_1266526466_n (1) by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="401026_10150709315769465_821729464_12337395_1266526466_n (1)" height="375" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7001/6798262449_07e1404cc9.jpg" width="500" /></a>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">PNG style spa bath? Hubby is the one with the bunny ears fingers.</span></div>
<br />
There was also berry picking. Came home with 4kg of fresh strawberries and 2kg black berries. Kids had a ball- its like a treasure hunt. Not to mention that it was perfectly clear weather, and thus working up a descent sweat!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
First days of school have now happened. Me as the mum learning to get out o bed and make lunches- slightly relieved that my husband has made the lunches the the past few days- bless his cotton socks!<br />
<br />
I am trying to get fit (and healthy). I do night shift- which does not lend itself to health! So if I can change other parts of my life it should really counteract some of the lack of heath that shift work lends itself to.<br />
<br />
Anyway- hope to be getting more crafty now that routine has returned.<br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is our first baby.<br />
<br />
He is a Samoyed.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
He is now 11yo.<br />
<br />
He is gentle, soft, fun, frustrating and he doe the woo woo woo- as many spitz breeds do. He bolts the minute that he gets the opportunity, but loves to be around us. If he gets too bothered, he just goes and finds a quiet spot all on his own. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We bought him home when he was a wee puppy, he now stands at 32" at the shoulder- weighs around the 32kg mark. He is all fluff!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
His favourite food when he was a puppy was socks and stockings. I was forever fishing socks out of his mouth- something I had never thought id do as a fur parent!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The first time I had visited a dog show I was washing my hands after patting the fluffy friends, then a month later was fishing things out of my puppies own mouth!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
He will never be replaced or forgotten, although he has been demoted by 4 other human babies... but that is what happens unfortunately.</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hes off for a groom later this month, so will post some pics after that.</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/6330470733/" title="Untitled by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="" height="500" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6233/6330470733_edfb6cde1e.jpg" width="374" /></a> </div>
<br />
And in that national park is a set of steps. <br />
<br />
Its actually a tribute to the Kokoda track.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/6327543767/" title="Untitled by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="" height="500" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6212/6327543767_5206e74417.jpg" width="374" /></a>
</div>
No doubt they are not as gruiling as what our grandfathers climbed in the 1940's. But hey, it sure does work my legs!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/6331186248/" title="Untitled by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="" height="500" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6046/6331186248_2da436c190.jpg" width="374" /></a> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
All sorts of people climb these stairs. People who need to lose weight, mothers with babies strapped to their backs, 80yo's from the local bush walking clubs, footy players, fitness enthusiasts... and us!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/6327546177/" title="Untitled by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="" height="500" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6111/6327546177_b5c42e15e9.jpg" width="375" /></a>
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
I have actually really enjoyed it. The first time I did it, it took me over 20min. And I didnt make it to the top. I got a stitch. he next time I was more careful about when I ate, and set on up there. Now I am climbing them in about 14min. (mind you that is just the steps, not the hike to the steps)<br />
<br />
I took my boys with me on this occasion. They didnt even break out a sweat! Mind you there was alot of sillyness on the way down, so took alot longer than I had hoped.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/6327546469/" title="Untitled by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="" height="375" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6108/6327546469_0e24643076.jpg" width="500" /></a>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
But we had fun anyway!</div>
<br />

The time I spend sitting I could be doing crunches- but who really wants to do that?. I do enjoy walking, but who wants to walk when you have 2 girls saying "mum im tired, im hungry, when are we going to the park". <br />
<br />
I was inspired by a <a href="http://madquilter.blogspot.com/">couple</a> of<a href="http://and-so-i-sew.blogspot.com/"> friends </a> who have made it work for them. They are getting out there and improving their health, one day at a time.<br />
<br />
So I am giving it a go.<br />
<br />
I am trying to find what works for me.<br />
<br />
I don't want to spend money<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
I don't want to hurt myself either, or make myself sick (I don't cope with that). I don't want to lack oxygen to my brain by being that puffed that i cant breathe. But I also want to see results!</div>
</div>
<br />
So what do I have at hand..<br />
A skipping rope.<br />
Wii fit<br />
runners<br />
tracksuits pants and shorts<br />
water<br />
<br />
So I have been doing the Wii fit. Just a little each day<br />
This is my cheer squad. They love watching me play the games. and its not a massive workout but it does get me moving on days where I cant get outside. It also does set a good example to them too.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/6326856611/" title="Untitled by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="" height="374" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6046/6326856611_e70f7cd6fb.jpg" width="500" /></a>
</div>
I have also been walking. Just a little every few days where time allows. Such as before dinner when the man is home and can watch kids and dinner.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/6326873471/" title="Untitled by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="" height="500" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6230/6326873471_b5bc15ffb5.jpg" width="375" /></a>
</div>
<br />
My downfalls are chocolate and chips. And yes I am still eating them, but only 1 piece instead of .... or 3 chips when there is not much left so I dont eat the whole packet.
Lets see how we go...<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.mylivesignature.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://signatures.mylivesignature.com/54487/126/BB97B6B3DC5211E0F87E3C41D378BD75.png" style="background-attachment: scroll; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; background-image: none; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0% 0%; background-repeat: repeat repeat; border-bottom-color: initial; border-bottom-style: initial; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-color: initial; border-left-style: initial; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-color: initial; border-right-style: initial; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-color: initial; border-top-style: initial; border-top-width: 0px;" /></a>Carolynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11961630320119673470noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2966786143007513866.post-91847278849177701552011-10-31T21:32:00.003+11:002011-10-31T21:33:03.627+11:00So what do you do when you lose your sew-jo?I knit!<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The only thing I would suggest that if you want to make one, if you have a pair of 30cm circular needles, use them, or gain a pair. I used magic loop on the sleeves and my tension was tight because of this, making it quite firm around my daughters arms.
But really, that is a problem I can live with!</div>

<div aria-live="polite" class="fbPhotosPhotoCaption" id="fbPhotoSnowboxCaption" style="display: inline; outline-color: initial; outline-style: none; outline-width: initial; width: auto;" tabindex="0">
A while back, at the entrance of a gym, there was a picture of a very thin and beautiful woman. The caption was "This summer, do you want to be a mermaid or a whale?"<br />
<br />
The story goes, a woman (of clothing size unknown) answered the following way:<br />
<br />
"Dear people, whales are always surrounded by friends (dolphins, seals, curious humans), they are sexually active and raise their children with great tenderness.<br />
They entertain like crazy with dolphins and eat lots of prawns. They swim all day and travel to fantastic places like Patagonia, the Barents Sea or the coral reefs of Polynesia.<br />
They sing incredibly well and sometimes even are on cds. They are impressive and dearly loved animals, which everyone defend and admires.<br />
<br />
Mermaids do not exist.<br />
<br />
But if they existed, they would line up to see a psychologist because of a problem of split personality: woman or fish?<br />
They would have no sex life and could not bear children.<br />
Yes, they would be lovely, but lonely and sad.<br />
And, who wants a girl that smells like fish by his side?<br />
<br />
Without a doubt, I'd rather be a whale.<br />
<br />
At a time when the media tells us that only thin is beautiful, I prefer to eat ice cream with my kids, to have dinner with my husband, to eat and drink and have fun with my friends.<br />
<br />
We women, we gain weight because we accumulate so much wisdom and knowledge that there isn't enough space in our heads, and it spreads all over our bodies.<br />
We are not fat, we are greatly cultivated.<br />
Every time I see my curves in the mirror, I tell myself: "How amazing am I ?! "<br />
<br />
(The girl on the picture is French model Tara Lynn)</div>

<br />
And yes I played yardage chicken!<br />
<br />
this is what I had left over from 2X 200g of Utiku yarn.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/6161429732/" title="IMG_8874 by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_8874" height="500" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6068/6161429732_70c5003d39.jpg" width="333" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
But the results were super cute!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
A little knitted vest/ jumper with a hood and a pocket!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
The little cutie pie heard me rejoice when I finished this knit (I am not a quick knitter- so it took longer than usual), and jumped out of bed to try and on and model in her PJs</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
Isnt she just georgeous!<br />
<br />
I must admit, my little girl is so beautiful- without mother bias! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/6157659468/" title="IMG_8776 by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_8776" height="333" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6066/6157659468_1ac144e899.jpg" width="500" /></a></div><br />
why?<br />
<br />
to make knickers!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/6157046231/" title="IMG_8773 by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_8773" height="333" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6185/6157046231_1d1f0d0be9.jpg" width="500" /></a></div><br />
And on top of the old tees, knit fabric scraps (of descent size) also make great knickers.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/6157046225/" title="IMG_8772 by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_8772" height="333" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6168/6157046225_e3fcf90d9d.jpg" width="500" /></a></div><br />
Now my girls can dance around with a little extra coverage that little girls require.<br />
<br />
dont look too close, they are rough and ready, but the girls dont care!<br />
<br />
Pattern from That Darn Kat and also Cinderella Zwergen Mode. Both are PDF patterns.<br />

But I struggle to write blogs without clear pictures of what I am talking about. But you must understand, when you have a 3.5 yo and a 5yo who will not stay still for photos, the photos are rather boring, or out of focus!<br />
<br />
You get photos such as these<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/6051306003/" title="IMG_8752 by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_8752" height="400" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6090/6051306003_074ceff95f_z.jpg" width="266" /></a></div><br />

Pattern Olivia by Farbenmix. Fabric some sparkly polyester stretch stuff from Spotlight. <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/6051281745/" title="IMG_8747 by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_8747" height="400" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6210/6051281745_b432ffd588_z.jpg" width="266" /></a></div>Not sure how it will wash up, but mainly for dress ups anyway, its not everyday wear sort of fabric. Got the <a href="http://willowandmoo.blogspot.com/2011/07/dancing-queen.html">idea</a> from Sara at Willow and Moo. <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/6051839316/" title="IMG_8756 by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_8756" height="400" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6062/6051839316_053827db20_z.jpg" width="266" /></a></div><br />
Rolled hem and cuffs using embroidery thread. I usually iron up the hems but as its polyester i didn't feel confident adding heat.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/6051843548/" title="IMG_8757 by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_8757" height="266" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6191/6051843548_6afdb67d1a_z.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<br />

Since posting this I have been informed, by the mother of the owner of the pink one... that being my sister... that I have created a big rod for her back. Not only is it likely that Indi will love her new dress, but its unlikely she will ever take it off. Its her new sleep in, play clothes, have bath in dress.<br />

in a few years, she will be totally up with what looks good, what is the latest fashions. So for now, gumboots, tracksuit pants, a dress, a tee and a bag... that is perfectly acceptable attire around here.<br />

Soon she will be telling me what I should wear...<br />

<br />
Mainly as there has been too much of nothing happening here.<br />
<br />
The too much part is we went on holidays - yay- photos to come.<br />
The nothing part includes going back to school and working. <br />
<br />
do you ever reminisce of the days were school and kinder runs didnt exist? Getting out of bed was often met with a 2yo and 3yo dancing in 3mt of milk in the middle of the kitchen floor, and a baby with a pooey nappy but hey, I didnt have to get them dressed! I could stay in my PJs all day, sit and breasfeed babies as my boys ran amuck. And let me tell you they did run amuck!<br />
<br />
Today my morning is met with a "mum its 7" by one kid, while another kid has to be dragged out of bed at 8.30 (yes school starts at 9!). Usually then its the race to see who can get dressed, <i>find</i> their shoes (yes I put them in the shoe box last night) make lunches, <i>find </i>readers (yes I put them in my bad when you asked me to last night)... still havnt found the other school parker!<br />
It was finding something for lunch for the 5yo whos kinder is nut free, but who doesn't eat vegetables but loves nutella or peanut butter sandwiches (she got honey). And the baby monkey who thinks she deserves chocolate for breakfast (lunch and dinner)<br />
<br />
Life is different here now to what is was a few years ago. We know have a more defined view of what our kids needs are, but also have more of an understanding that our kids needs are more complicated than what the book says. <br />
I dont have to wash or change nappies, but I do have 2 boys 2 girls and 1 toilet! How many rolls of toilet paper can you go through in 1 week!<br />
Toilet training and night training has been achieved, but so is pulling over on the freeway to pee!<br />
No more breatsfeeding... but I miss it!<br />
No more getting up overnight (did you hear that miss Lily?) But am waking up overnight often with a few extra people in our bed!<br />
Putting their own seat belts on! Wow that was a milestone! (ever had to do up 4 seat belts every time you get into and out of a car)<br />
Shopping is still a nightmare. But as far as I know, that is just children in general.<br />
<br />
sigh... life is changing. How I cope I dont know. But it is fun. Each day has its challenges, each day has its rewards. Each child is a shining individual and have so many glittering facets. I am their mother.<br />
<br />

arnt they georgeous!<br />
This is a modified version of the <a href="http://www.craftymamas.com.au/farbenmix-olivia-pinafore-dress.html">Olivia</a> pattern by <a href="http://www.farbenmix.de/galerie/search.php?show_result=1&page=1">Farbenmix</a>. If you have girls this is a must have pattern. So easy and quick. Typical me- instant satisfaction dress.<br />
<br />
I was looking for a way to use only 50cm of my favourite knit fabric, yet still make a dress. So here is my effort. I was inspired by <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/32910421@N08/3066476852/">this</a> one that I saw on Flickr. Sorry if you cant see it, but I cant find the blog address for this talented seamstress.<br />
This fabric is JNY knits and also stella from <a href="http://www.craftymamas.com.au/jny-designs.html?pg=2">Crafty Mamas</a><br />
<br />
Started with the bodice of the Olivia dress. I just traced the front and then copped it off straight about 4cm under the arm.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/5892082381/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Untitled by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="" height="239" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5074/5892082381_608ace4879.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Traced it out onto some more tracing paper to make the whole bodice.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/5892662486/" title="Untitled by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="" height="239" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5039/5892662486_13d13f3037.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Ruled a line from one shoulder to the bottom. I lined it up with the outer shoulder seam. I also filled in the part of the neck that was left with no paper.<br />
The 2 lines are an error. There should only be one line.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/5892673106/" title="Untitled by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="" height="239" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5064/5892673106_6aa2edffab.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"></div><br />
Cut along the line <br />
<br />
cut 2 in the opposite. If you are using directional fabric make sure that you notice the direction (yes saying this from experience). Also add a seam allowance on the bodice and skirt so that you can sew them together. I didnt add any seam allowance to the neck as it would have made the neck too small. <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/5892677570/" title="Untitled by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="" height="239" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5270/5892677570_a9c304376e.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Cut out the back as per normal (just the bodice part), sew the shoulders together, and then add your neck binding. I did the traditional neck binding, but you can do it just right sides together, it just means that you would add a seam allowance and top stitch. I did sretch the binding slightly, but not as much as I would on a normal neck.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/5892123507/" title="Untitled by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="" height="239" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6014/5892123507_1919f449d6.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
pin is all together and sew along your stitch line where you top stitched the binding. Make sure that the join at the intersection is sewn well, as there will be a lot of pressure on that seam.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46031202@N07/5892703600/" title="Untitled by acmtel, on Flickr"><img alt="" height="239" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5076/5892703600_9606cc8d96.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
then sew your pocket onto the skirt<br />
attach your front skirt and back skirt, and top stitch.<br />
add your sleeves. I did 2 tone sleeves.<br />
The new from your hem right around to the end of the sleeve. Make sure that your seams match at the bodice and under the arm. You may want to use wonder tape of loads of pins. <br />
Hem as per normal.<br />
<br />
Hope you enjoy, and dont forget to show us all when you give this a go.<br />

<br />

<br />
The fabrics on these was Stella from Crafty Mamas, as well as some Campan and some other knits from Crafty Mamas. Ribbon is Farbenmix and embroideries by Huups.<br />
<br />
They did take me ages to put together and embroider, but the results are worth it!<br />
